Ambassadors · Bring your club

Bring your club home.

You've followed your club for years. You've watched owners come and go. Now you want it to belong to the people in the stands. Become a FIELD ambassador: we study your club together, you rally its supporters, and if we buy it, you join its board.

Who it's for

Ambassadors aren't influencers. They're the people a club's supporters already trust. Most come from one of these backgrounds.

Supporters' trust members

You sit on your trust or supporters' association. You know the members, the history and the battles with the owners.

Fan group leaders

You run a supporters' group, a fanzine, a podcast or a fan account that the stands follow.

Club people

Former player, former staff, local business owner, community figure: someone the town listens to when the club is at stake.

The journey, step by step

From your application to your first board meeting. Durations are indicative: every club is different, and a takeover can take a year.

  1. 1

    Reply within 2 weeks

    You apply

You fill in the form below. We call you to understand your club, your links with the supporters and why now. Everything stays confidential.

  2. 2

    2 to 4 weeks

    We study your club

We read the public accounts, the debts, who owns the stadium, who the owner is and whether they might sell. You get an honest verdict: go, not yet, or no.

  3. 3

    2 to 4 months

    You rally the supporters

With our kit, you bring at least 1,000 supporters of your club onto the waitlist and win over the trust and fan groups. It proves the demand to the owner and to the platforms.

  4. 4

    1 to 3 months

    We approach the owner

FIELD and its lawyers lead the negotiation, under a confidentiality agreement. You open doors and represent the supporters' voice. Goal: a sale agreement that depends on the raise succeeding.

  5. 5

    6 to 8 weeks

    The raise

Supporters buy 51% through a regulated crowdfunding platform. Private investors fund the other 49%, without control. If the target isn't reached, everyone is refunded and nothing is signed.

  6. 6

    After league approval

    Takeover and board seat

The league approves the new owners and directors. FIELD buys 100% of the club, and you take your seat on the board to represent the supporters.

Who does what

You bring the club and its people. FIELD brings the method, the lawyers, the platforms and the money from outside.

You

  • Introduce us to the supporters' trust, fan groups and local media
  • Bring 1,000 supporters of the club onto the waitlist
  • Share our content with the club's community
  • Tell us what the fans want and fear
  • Keep the project confidential until we announce it

FIELD

  • Studies the club: accounts, debts, stadium, owner
  • Pays for and leads the lawyers and the negotiation
  • Runs the raise on regulated platforms in the UK, Europe and the US
  • Finds the private investors for the 49%
  • Produces the content and the ads, and gives you the kit

The board seat

If FIELD buys your club, you join its board of directors as the supporters' representative. It's a real role, with real responsibilities.

Your role

  • Vote on the club's major decisions with the rest of the board
  • Make sure the club respects its supporters' charter and its identity
  • Report back to the supporters after every board meeting
  • Attend board meetings, usually once a month

Term

The seat is written into the shareholders' agreement. Your term and its renewal are set in that agreement and confirmed by the supporters who hold the voting majority.

Is it paid?

It depends on the size of the club. Any pay is a fixed fee paid by the club and decided by its board. It is never a percentage of money raised.

Club sizeWhat the seat comes with
Small club, still losing moneyExpenses covered (travel, matchday)
Established club, balanced budgetA fixed annual fee
Large clubA fee set by the board, like any other director

Indicative. Exact terms are set club by club in the shareholders' agreement.

Which clubs we can take on

Not every club can be bought by its fans. These are the questions we ask in step 2.

A story and a crowd

A history people care about and supporters who still turn up, in the town and around the world.

An owner who could sell

Losses, relegations, an owner who has had enough: a sale has to be realistic.

A price we can reach

Purchase price, debts and two or three seasons of losses, at a level supporters and investors can fund together.

A clear stadium situation

Who owns the ground, how long the lease runs and who has a charge over it.

The conditions

Being an ambassador means representing thousands of supporters. A few rules come with it.

What we check

  • You can pass the league's owners and directors test (no relevant criminal convictions, no personal bankruptcy, no ban from football)
  • No conflict of interest: no players' agent role, no links with betting companies, no stake in a rival club
  • A few hours a week available during the rally phase
  • You keep everything confidential until FIELD announces the club

What we don't offer

  • No commission on money raised: the law forbids it, and it's not the spirit
  • No free shares: like any supporter, you can invest if you want to
  • No guarantee of a takeover: the seat only exists if the club is bought

Questions

My club isn't for sale. Can I still apply?

Yes. Many owners only think about selling when a credible project knocks on the door. Step 2 tells us whether the timing is right.

Do I have to put money in?

No. Being an ambassador is free and doesn't require investing. Like any supporter, you can invest during the raise if you want to.

Can there be several ambassadors for one club?

Yes, and it often helps. One of them takes the board seat; the others form the supporters' committee around it.

What if the takeover fails?

Supporters are refunded, nothing is signed, and no seat is created. The waitlist and the community you built stay, ready for the next opportunity.

Why no commission on money raised?

Paying someone according to the money raised from the public makes them a financial intermediary, which requires a licence. And an ambassador must speak for the supporters, not for a bonus.

Which countries?

We start with England and look at clubs across Europe. Tell us about your club wherever it is.
